While he is successful at that, he is also successful in winning the heart of inspector Mangamma (vimala). On the other hand, Ranga has got a strong liking for faction films, faction fights and his favourite is actor Jayaprakash Reddy. However, his life takes a turn when he sees a real life factionist Bhavani Prasad (srikanth again) and sequence of events get Ranga into Bhavani's place. What happens from there forms the rest of the story. Presentation: The director has come up with a routine storyline and though the presentation was okay, the narrative was bad. The dialogues were dull, the script was meek. The screenplay was alright. Background score was average and songs were really bad. Cinematography was effective. Editing was required during the second half. Costumes were apt while the art department made its presence felt. Srikanth worked hard to get life into his character so his contribution was good. Vimala Raman was sexy as usual but these are not the roles she is recommended for. Ramya Krishna was alright. Jayaprakash Reddy gave few light moments. GV has good screen presence. The actor doing the villain's role was apt. Sakunthala was standard. Sivaji, Jyothi, Bhuvaneshwari, Tarzan etc added their value. Conclusion: Though the maker came out with an interesting storyline, he was unable to conceive it correctly. While the first half was mixed with some stale humour and the regular romance, the second half gets into too much overdose of faction and faction dialogues. Hardcore mass elements were present. At the box office, this age old formula treat will be a dud without a second thought.  Final Rating : 2.5/5

Satya (Nagarjuna) comes to Hyderabad from Cuddapah, and joins in a rowdy gang. There he meets a lady rowdy (Anushka).  Few months later, Astalakshmi (Priyamani) comes into his life. He provides shelter and protection to Astalakshmi and her family and romances with the two beauties. Then he declares a war on the city’s don Peddanna. What prompts him to indulge in direct fight with the ‘don’ is narrated in a flash back episode. A doctor (Venniradai Nirmala) runs a hospital in Cuddapah and wins the hearts of local people there. She also adopts an orphan boy who turns out to be Satya. One day, she is killed. So, Satya comes to Hyderabad to take revenge on her killers. Analysis Of late, Nagarjuna has more interested in signing ‘mass’ entertainers. Ever since, his Mass became a huge grocer, he has been moving into that genre frequently. After the disastrous result of Kedi , he attempts at this genre again with Ragada. Writer turned director Veeru Potla who made debut with Bindaas as director has also tried to rehash the old mass action entertainers. But he has inserted several twists in the screenplay at regular interval to keep the audiences glued to this movie that has no proper script. The director has succeeded only in creating twists but rest of the movie runs on predictable manner. Plenty of action scenes are also thrown in – some of the fights defy the logic too. To elevate the heroism, the action director has designed fights in a high-voltage manner –for every punch of the hero, the villains jump into air. Nagarjuna looking handsomely, the rich production values, and the plenty of glamour show by the heroines are plus side of the movie. Performances Seeing Nagarjuna in the movie, you don’t believe that he has crossed 50 years. He looks so dashing in the movie. In the role of a rowdy, he cakewalks through the character. He has used Rayalaseema diction in the movie. Anushka is gorgeous and her chemistry with Nagarjuna is hot. Priyamani is okay. Charmee also provides glamour quotient in a song. Brahmanandam provides some laughs in the beginning of the movie but the movie lacks comedy on the whole. Pradeep Rawat does justice to his role. Venniradai Nirmala, Kota, Supreet, Tanikella, and master Bharat have not much role but they have done their job well. Taman’s songs are not that foot-tapping  but they are shot beautifully and richly. Sets are fantastic in the songs. Cinematography by Sarvesh Murari is eye-catching. Director Veeu Potla takes credit to story, screenplay and direction but he has not shown sparkle any of his departments. His dialogues are pretty ordinary. There is hardly any story as it is amalgam of several past masala movies. As director too he doesn’t succeed much as narration lacks consistency. Producer D Shiva Prasad Reddy has put in lot of money to give the movie a rich look. Probably the movie is highest budgeted flick in Nagarjuna’s career. Performances: Nagarjuna looked handsome and younger than his previous flick. His style and charisma are an added bonus to this film. Nag tried for Rayalaseema accent which didn’t have any impact. Anushka is gorgeous. She has outdone the rest with her unmatchable screen presence. Priyamani exposed her body more than Anushka to make her presence felt. On performance side, she had the upper hand. Charmi sizzled in a song. Pradeep Rawat doesn’t have anything to do except howling and yelling all the time. Dev Gill who excelled in Magadheera is given a spineless character in this film. Kota Srinivasa Rao is standard. Brahmanandam played a lengthy role and helped the proceedings. In fact Brahmanandam is the only relief in this over dose action masala. Master Bharat is fine. There is nothing to mention about rest of the star cast. Technicalities: Veeru Potla’s funny one-liners worked in few scenes. On a whole he does an average job as dialogue writer. Thaman’s songs are in sync with the mood of the film. But nothing stays on your mind or haunts you. Background score is good though. Sarvesh Murari did a fantastic job behind the camera. His cinematography is the biggest plus for this stylishly shot film. Marthand K. Venkatesh editing is slick but there are few jumps here and there. Production values are good. Veeru Potla yet again wrote a story which is a rehash of many hit films. He simply followed the commercial path to bag a hit. He has the potential but is deliberately restricting himself to be branded as a ‘safe’ director. On commercial front, he is an average director and still has to do lot of work to be considered on par with Rajamouli or VV Vinayak. Plus Points: - Entertainment - Nagarjuna’s style - Anushka’s glamour - Commercial elements Minus points: - Age old story based on revenge formula - Second half drags - Ordinary climax Final Word: The release time would be the biggest plus for Ragada. Holiday season and no big releases at least for next two weeks should help the film to get into a safe zone. It should work commercially but content wise Ragada is just ordinary. Don’t expect too much from this film. Bottom-line On the whole, Ragada is predictable entertainer that follows the age old formula, which might appeal to viewers who finds comfort in mass masala movies that hinge completely on star power and glamour than the content. Watch it only for some action episodes, Nagarjuna and Anushka’s sexposing.  Vebtoday Rating : 3.25/5

Story

Kathi Kantha Rao (Allari Naresh) is a constable in police department. He has two elder sisters and two younger sisters. His elder sisters are back in his home because he didn’t pay dowry. His younger sisters are unmarried. His ‘clever’ father makes him sign a bond paper that he should only get married after marrying off all his sisters. Kantha Rao falls in love with Ratnam (Kamna Jetmalani) and marries her secretly. Ratnam’s father (Kota) is a landlord in village who is obsessed about elections. The rest of the story is all about Kantha Rao manages to marry off his sisters and get approval for his wedding.

Artists Performance

Allari Naresh entertains yet again as a guy who is caught in a funny situation. His characterization is similar to of the roles he played in his movies in EVV direction. Kamna Jetmalani is adequate as lady love. Kota Srinivas Rao entertains in the whole of second half. Dharmavarapu Subramanyam is good with his dramatic diction of Kongara Jaggayya. Venu Madhav plays side-kick to hero. Raghu Babu donned the role of meat-eating Hindu priest (we usually see Brahmanandam in these kind of roles) and he is entertaining. Kondavalasa is good.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: The basic point of hero being forced to marry off girls in a family was well exploited in EVV 90's movie ‘Appula Appa Rao’. He took the same story line and tweaked it around. The story of the movie goes on predicted lines and the screenplay is adequate. EVV Satyanarayana is perfect when it comes tocomedy timing and getting it right from his actors. His direction is adequate.

Other departments: Music by singer turned lyricist Mallikharjun is mediocre. Cinematography is adequate. Dialogues of the movie deserve special mention as they are funny. Big B Productions who erred with their first project Buridi made sure that they got their combination and content right this time. This movie is made on a low budget.

Analysis: Allari Naresh has created a market for himself and playing within that budget. Hence, he is guaranteeing returns to buyers and satisfaction to the target audiences. He knows his strengths, understands his market and is catering to it in a fantastic way. Kathi Kantha Rao film is going to be another minimum-guarantee film for him in this year after Betting Bangarraju. Kathi Kantha Rao is not a fresh movie. It is full of seen-before characterizations and heard before dialogues. Even then, themovie works for you because EVV has the unique trait of doing the same thing again and again, and still getting the desired result. On a whole, Kathi Kantha Rao is a funny film if you have a thing for EVV brand comedy.

It’s been 25 years since Victory Venkatesh entered the acting arena. Nagavalli is his first movie in the Silver Jubilee year. Therefore, Nagavalli is much anticipated. Moreover, it is released as a sequel to Chandramukhi which adds to a lot of expectations.
Story
A rich man (Sarath Babu) lives in a palatial mansion in a village with his five daughters. His elder daughter Gayatri (Kamlinee Mukherjee), who is a dancer, wins a priced 100 year old portrait of Chandramukhi who is supposed to have worked as a dancer in the durbar of a king. Things start going wrong in the house for the five young women soon after the portrait is brought home.
The elder one dies in an accident, the prospective grooms who were supposed to marry the younger daughters keep rejecting them. Horrified by the bad omens, the rich man invites a psychic to find out what is going wrong. The psychic suggests a psychiatrist Vijay (Venkatesh). Venkatesh stays in rich man’s house to study the case and realizes that things are going bad after Gayatri got Chandramukhi portrait to rich man’s house.
Turns out that the house has become haunted by the spirit of Chandramukhi aka Nagavalli (Anushka). One of the girls in that house (Richa, Shraddha, and Kamalinee) is possessed by Chadramukhi’s spirit and Vijay has to know who it is and find a solution to it.
 There is Chandramukhi’s story in a separate flashback sequence where a cruel king Raja Naga Bhairava Rajasekhara (Venkatesh duel role) falls in love with Chandramukhi who is already in love with someone. Although King Naga Bhairava will not touch a woman unless she’s willing but at the same time he cannot take it if any other person admires her.  So he brings Chandramukhi to his palace, chops of the arm of the man who sketches her portrait, burns the dancer and beheads her paramour.
The dancer vows to gather his dust in a year’s time and enters the soul of one of the three daughters’ in Sarath Babu’s family. The rest of the story is about how Chandramukhi avenges her death and how Vijay solves all the problems.

Analysis:
Nagavalli has been hyped as the sequel to Chandramukhi, which was a huge hit in Tamil and Telugu. Director Vasu has his priorities right in scripting and addressing the story to his viewers, he makes sure everything is just right - the cast, crew, the taking, the performances and the finale but perhaps due to the repeated viewings of the first part, or the ability of the audiences to deduce and connect the suspense elements in the sequel, the element of thrill goes for a toss.
The director introduced Venkatesh’s character in this film as an assistant to Rajinikanth’s character in Chandramukhi film. The story and screenplay of Nagavalli is remarkably comparable to Chandramukhi. Even the dialogue and song concepts too remind you of it. First half of the film is passable with few unfunny comedy scenes and uninspiring songs. In the first hour the film works only in parts. Second half gains momentum as the story starts to unravel.
In the first part, the director concentrated on Chandramukhi alone while developing her role from the beginning. Here the focus on the lady in whose body Chandramukhi is tapped isn’t given much importance and you can’t expect the audience to sympathize or empathize with her in the last fifteen minutes all of a sudden. The introduction song of Venkatesh could have been done away with; it didn’t add value to the story.
Nevertheless, the flashback part of Nagavalli is told in a complicated way unlike in Chandramukhi film. There is a twist in the tale towards the climax about who is the possessed girl. Barring these two changes everything in Nagavalli is just a rehash of Chandramukhi film with a different star cast.
However, the climax looked out of the place with Venkatesh (with a weird makeup) and Anushka fighting amidst a tornado effect (absolutely not required).The film ends on a predictable note and audiences leave the theatres wondering if this is a sequel to Chandramukhi or a remake of it!

Performances
Venkatesh is fine in the psychiatrist role and dons two roles and three different get-ups in this movie. He tried his best to look cruel as the King. You can see Venkatesh trying Rajnikant’s body language in a few scenes. He is good as a decent looking psychiatrist, he is nice as a king with negative streaks and but he isn’t right for the surprise character that comes towards the end of the movie. The make-up and styling for that character is far away from our nativity. It is more like an aged Japanese warrior we see in films He is fifty already and it is clearly visible on his face. Even his dances lacked those energy levels of the past. Venkatesh has no heroine and duets in this film and that is a welcome change. Still, Venkatesh should be appreciated for doing this film
Though there are six heroines in the film, there is not much footage for any heroine in this movie. Anushka lacks the majestic appeal that helped her to carry of a powerful role in Arundhati. The age factor has started affecting Anushka too! Her classical dances are a pain to watch. Kamanilee Mukherjee is exceptionally good. Richa Gangopadhyay plays a vital role and she does justice. Shraddha Das plays a full length character and she is very good and different from what we have seen in her earlier movies. Poonam Kuar and Sujitha play insignificant roles Brahmanandam’s comedy act hardly tickles you. Dharmavarapu’s role is a pale imitation of Vadivelu’s in Chandramukhi. Avinash is very good as psychic. Ananth Nag, Sarath Babu, Prabha, Sana and Raksha are believable.

Technical Departments:
P. Vasu’s taking style and screenplay is stuck in the eighties. The first and last songs in this film are an example of how much outdated the director is. P. Vasu tried to repeat Chandramukhi’s magic with Nagavalli but sadly couldn’t. The script has too many holes and the climax sequences are a let down. The last half an hour of Chandramukhi worked big time due to the scariness and tight screenplay. Nagavalli lacks all those nail biting and edge of the seat moments.
Paruchuri’ s dialogues hardly leaves a mark. Guru Kiran’s music is average. Background score is fine though. Shyam K Nadu did his best within his limitations. Cinematography by Shyam K Naidu is good.  Art work by Chinna is not bad. Editing is neat.  Styling by Rama Rajamouli is good if you excuse out-of-nativity styling for surprise character donned by Venkatesh. Producer Bellamkonda Suresh mounted the movie on a rich scale. Despite having a star of Venkatesh’s caliber, the film is made with a limited budget and it is evident on the screen.

Rakta Charitra 2 is a much awaited movie after the controversial Rakta Charitra 1. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the film has been made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi simultaneously. Based on real life characters, this political vengeance saga continues with the first part showing Vivek Oberoi (Paritala Ravi) in the main role and the second part introducing the much awaited role of Surya (Maddelacheruvu Suri).
Story:
The movie starts from where it ended in the first part.
Surya (Suriya) who loses his family because of Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberoi), tries to seek revenge by planting a bomb. However, Pratap escapes with minor injuries and gets to know that Surya is the son of the wicked politician, Mahendar Reddy who he had killed because he had killed Pratap’s father and brother. Pratap commands his men to kill all those who helped Surya to plan the attack against him. The police officer Mohan Prasad (Kannada actor Sudeep), takes Surya’s wife Bhavani (Priyamani) into custody and arrests Surya.
Surya reveals the flash back why he wants to kill Pratap. He reveals that after his father’s death, he wanted to lead a peaceful life with his family and did not want to seek revenge. But Pratap, who had by then become a powerful politician, ordered his henchmen to kill all his enemies. In the process, Surya’s entire family gets killed by a TV bomb planted by Pratap’s men. Ever since then, Surya wants to avenge the death of his family and again hatches another plan to kill Pratap while he is behind bars after the failed first attempt.
How and when does Surya take revenge and who gets benefited by this forms the conclusion of the story.

Analysis:
One must admire Varma business sense for making two movies with a single storyline. But the second part fails to impress or engross like the first part did. Rakta Charitra 2 needlessly drags on tests the patience of the audience. Neither the story nor the treatment is worthwhile. The only scenes which impress is the attack on Surya when he is in the court and his outburst after the death of his family. Surya has enacted them brilliantly. Even the jail fight is worth a mention. The most disappointing aspect of the movie is its climax. It fails to create any impact.
Performances:
Surya is awesome throughout the movie. His apt body language does most of the talking. Vivek Oberoi, who acted well in the first part of the movie, is below the mark in the second part. Priyamani and Bhavani are perfect in their roles. Shatrughan Sinha hardly has any role to play. The rest of the supporting crew like Sudeep, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Tanikella Bharani etc are good.
Technicalities:
On the technical front, the overall movie is okay as are most of RGV’s movies. Dialogues are background scores are adequate. Editing is good while the cinematography is brilliant.
Final Verdict
The climax of the film could have been much better. Watch Rakta Charitra 2 only for Surya.

Ramcharan is back after giving the industry a super hit  like ‘Magadheera.’ The movie sees director Baskar burdened with retaining the image for Charan’s Megastar status. Harris Jayaraj refreshing tunes have already topped the charts. Genelia is back trying for her first hit in 2010. Producer Naga Babu has lavisly overspent more than the needful with entire shooting done in Australia… ‘Orange’ arrived today as a treat to Charan Fans. Let us see, how color is there in the ‘Color of Love’?
Story
Ram (Ramcharan Teja) is a youngster living in Sydney, Australia with sister (Manjula) and brother-in-law (Sanjay Swaroop).  Ram is looking out for a new girl to fall in love with after having earlier fallen in love with nine girls already. Ram believes that ‘True Love’ is good only for some period of time but fades away with time. He thinks that with the passage of time, the intensity of love decreases and slowly it becomes conditional searching for ‘Reasons’ to separate any two lovers. So, Ram believes in the policy of ‘Short-term Love’.
Jaanu (Genelia) is a bubbly and cheerful college going girl who is unaware of what love is and is fascinated to have a boyfriend. It’s not long before Ram falls in love with Jaanu’s innocence and Jaanu reciprocates his feelings. However, the two are as different as chalk and cheese. Ram likes sky-diving, painting graffiti and shooting wild-life photography. Quite romantic one would think. But Ram is too straightforward and in the process of making Jaanu fall for him, Ram tells her that he’s had nine girl friends already. The girls is in a quandary when Ram tells Jaanu of his belief in the concept of ‘Short-term Love’  and  Jaanu is in a fix whether to accept Ram’s harsh truth about how love fades.
Jaanu finds Ram’s beliefs convincing when she sees her own friends’ love stories fall apart. But Jaanu is adamant that love is ever-lasting and tries to convince Ram about it. But Ram doesn’t think so. What is the reason for Ram thinking this way? Here the story is taken in a flashback mode to Ram’s college days where he fell in love with Ruba (Shazahn Padamsee).  Over time, Ram gradually looses his self-identity, changes his friends, tastes and on a whole he looses his independence; all for the sake of Ruba who is selfish in wanting Ram to love and live just for herself. The result is a break up which led Ram to change his philosophy about love.
How Jaanu, her father (Prabhu), the Sydney Police Officer (Prakash Raj), Ram’s neighbor (Naga Babu) make Ram understand the meaning of true love forms the climax of the story.

Analysis for Orange Movie
Director Bhaskar is clearly reeling with a Bommarillu hangover, in this movie Orange instead of a father-son conflict it is a conflict between a pair of lovers over their ideologies. The point is simple, the hero considers himself the world’s greatest lover, is obsessed with his likes and dislikes and keeps falling in love with many girls without promising a commitment.
 Orange starts off on a confusing note with the first half lacking clarity. The characters behave in an awkward manner and it takes time for the audience to get used to their ideology. The narration however settles down after the first song and the pace picks up. The hero’s typical characterization forms the essence of the love story and infuses comedy into the proceedings of the story.
 The first half of the movie runs smoothly and is supported by good music. Because of the simple and direct storyline, the director hasn’t gone beating around the bush. Post-interval, the movie has a very good start with some few well-written scenes. Orange Love Idi and Rooba Rooba which come in the second half of the movie are well picturized songs.
 However, the movie falls once it starts to explain the ideology about everlasting love. The film heads towards an unconvincing climax where the hero suddenly changes his mind-set all of a sudden and the audience is left confused of what is going on the screen especially in the last half hour of the movie.

Good Points:
Subject chosen is tough and Bhaskar should be applauded for choosing a story of this kind.

Performance
Both Ramcharan and Genelia look awesome. They not only compete with each other with their expressions, but also end up winning hearts. Performance wise, Ramcharan steals the show as the lover boy. With good looks and great body language especially in the songs, he is sure to steal many young hearts. Genelia has continued the same bubbly character of ‘Bommarillu’ in entire first half of this movie but coming to second half, she delivered a settled performance. Shazahn Padamsee has a short but key role in the second half of the movie and she looks beautiful and acts well.
 Madhurima is there in a guest role too. Gayatri Rao of Happy Days, Vennela Kishore don’t have big roles either, but they do whatever they are given with conviction. Actors like Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Manjula, Sanjay Swaroop do their bits well, but it is Brahmanandam as Puppy, who evokes maximum laughs in the theaters. Naga Babu has a very small role but is just terrific!
Technical Departments:

Making a film such as this one is like walking on a tight rope, and Bhaskar isn’t always successful with this. Though the subject is good, the script has many loose ends which made the narration partially ineffective. Dialogues and screenplay work very well for most part of the movie.

Cinematography by Rajasekhar is top notch and this can be regarded as one of the best in 2010. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is abrupt and could have been better. Music by Harris Jayaraj stand out of the movie and the background is exuberating. Re-recording adds a lot of feel to the movie. Production values of Naga Babu and Anjana Productions are superb. Few of Charan’s fans might be disappointed the way his dances have been choreographed. The fight scenes were really not reuired and the skydiving fight was totally unnecessary.

Final Verdict

Orange will appeal more to the urban and young crowd with its blend of good entertainment and comedy. However, it doesn’t make any sense when such a topic is dealt with half-baked truths that are based because on one or two emotional situations. The film’s commercial success leaves many questions considering the high costs involved. The overall outcome of the movie will depend on how it fares in B and C grade centers. By and large, the movie will be an average or a little above average movie at the box-office.

Story

Rama Krishna (Kalyan Ram Nandamuri) is an aspiring football player who dreams of playing for the national team one day. He lives in a joint family and shares a strong bond with his family, especially his younger sister, Haritha (Saranya Mohan). Haritha has the knack of getting into trouble all the time but her brother is there to protect and save her whenever she gets into trouble. She also makes the wrong choice in selecting her life partner (Shyam) who is factionist Muthyam’s (Kota Srinivasa Rao) son and marries Haritha to take revenge. Reason? Haritha had once slapped him when he had tried to woo her and he in turn marries her to get back at her.
Rama Krishna discovers this only when Haritha disappears and he starts a search for her only to find her in deep trouble in her in-laws place in Rayalseema. The remaining part of the story deals with how Rama Krishna sacrifices his dream of playing for the national team to help save his sister from the trouble she is going through and set everything right.

The move deals with the usual brother-sister story but in a different set-up. What the story writer has done is to combine this emotional angle in a factional concept. So what the audience sees is a blend of sentiments and actions which is done in an unconvincing manner by the director. Starting on a promising note, the movie fizzles out in a typically predicatble manner.

What one fails to understand is the reasonableness of why Saranya Mohan elopes with her boyfreind when she always takes her brother’s help in the slightest of issues. Barring Kalyan Ram, none of the family members feel any emotions when Sarany goes missing. Instead the family advices the distressed Kalyan Ram to forget Saranya and move on with his life!

Another fact that doesn’t not sink in to our rationality is why Kalyan Ram plays pranks on Brahmanandam and Dharmavarapu when his sister is facing sheer hell in her in-laws house. These entertaining pranks do not suit the serious plot of the film. Added to that is the silly reason shown as to why Shyam and Saranya Mohan fall in love. The climax too crops out of nowhere and ends in a tiring manner.

Artists Performance

Kalyan Ram has acted well within his limitations. He is shown in two different styles in the movie. In the action scenes he has done very well but he needs to hone a little more in the comedy scenes. The actor’s dialogue delivery has also improved consdierably.

Sana Khan has a limited role to play and she does an okay job and looks good. Saranya Mohan suits the role of the sister. Shyam does his part and so do the other cast members. Kota is his usual good self and so is Ajay with his dangerous looks. Raghu Karumanchi makes a good comedian and entertains the movie-goers with his typical Telangan dialect and comical facial expressions. Ahuti Prasad, Chandra Mohan, Dharmavarapu and Telangana Sakuntala are adequate.

Technicalities:
Story seems to resemble Chiranjeevi’s Vijetha a little bit. Director Mallikarjuna has failed to live up to expectation. Dialogues by M. Ratnam are good in parts. Manisharma’s songs are nothing to write home about except for the Rama Jaya Rama and Natu Kodi Koora song. Background score is good though.
Sarvesh Murari’s cinematography stands out particularly in the action sequences and fights by Ram Lakshman are pretty stylized. Editing done by Gowtam Raju is crisp as well while the film’s screenplay is good in the second half of the movie. Special mentions is to be made of the production values and post production quality which is done with proper care.
Plus Points:
- Few action sequences might satisfy the  audience.
- Kalyanram fooling Kota as “Naa Daivam” is very funny.
Minus points:
- Predictable and oft-repeated storyline
-  Bad direction and screenplay
Final Verdict:
Kathi might be liked by a section of audience who get thrills watching half a dozen fights. Those look for some originality in the script can stay at home.

Bava Movie Review
Siddharth is one amongst the very few actors who has worked with new directors in a majority of his movies. In this movie as well, he has introduced another debutant director, Rambabu for Baava.
Story:
Veerababu (Siddharth) is a carefree and naughty village lad of Venkatapuram in East Godavari. Along with his set of friends (Prasad, Venu and others), the whole village is crazy about him. His parents love their only son a lot - especially his father, Sitaram Prasad (Rajendra Prasad).
Siddharth chances upon and falls in love with Varalakshmi (Pranitha), who belongs to a well-to-do and large family of a nearby village. Vara, however, does not respond to his overtures despite Veera wooing her incessantly. But Vara soon realizes that Veera is her childhood friend and she falls in love with him.
During this time, Vara’s father (Ahuti Prasad) who enjoys a high status in society pressurizes her to get married to the son of a neighboring village head. Vara asks Veera to something and they end up getting married. However, Veera’s father (Rajendra Prasad) refuses to accept Vara because she is the daughter of Veerababu’s maternal uncle. Rajendra Prasad convinces his daughter-in-law (heroine) to go back to her house and says that he will perform their wedding only with acceptance of her family.
Why Veerababu’s mother never visits her relatives’ home, what happens after Veera’s father sends Varalakshmi back to her home and does Veera succeed in his love story – all these form the rest of the story.
High Points:
Some of the movie highlights include:
 Siddharth in the role of a village guy is just amazing.
 Rajendra Prasad brings all his experience to the role and excels in each scene.
 The spoof on Varudu by Brahmanandam and Ali is extremely funny.
Low Points:
Some of the movie’s low points include:
 The story is pretty old fashioned and we seem to have seen it many times
 Climax is unbearable to see when compared to the overall story
 Dialogues in few emotional scenes remind of TV serials
Performances:
Siddarth as the village lad has infused life into the character. He has tried to speak in the Godavari coastal slang quite well. His expressions are also something worth watching. But in the climax scene he has overdone the acting my being too dramatic.
Rajendra Prasad, the seasoned actor has displayed his powerful screen presence but his talent has not been explored properly.
The heroine (Pranitha) is pretty, confident and shared a good chemistry with the hero. Her intro scene with ‘Ringa Ringa..’ song is entertaining.
Ahuti Prasad was his usual regular self – charming and artful, Tanikella was good, Samrat was handsome and did a fine job, Brahmi and Ali comedy track is really hilarious.
Raghu Babu was brief, Prasad, Venu and gang gave many smiles, Kasi Viswanath, Bharath and others aptly filled the screen. The actress who played Siddarth’s mom was decent but Sindhu Tolani was a misfit.
Technicalities:
Director Rambabu seems to hold some promise especially in the emotional scenes. He captures the whole village environment very nicely and has showcased Siddharth as a mass hero. The movie’s cinematography and editing was slick. Screenplay is also okay. Pranitha’s and Siddharth’s costumes and make-up was well-done. Background score was good, the locations were eye-catching and music by Chakri is also nice.
Analysis:
The first half of the movie is worth watching and will keep the audience in good mood with all the comedy and entertainment. However, the second part of the movie is a huge let-down and the audience is tested with all the routine stuff.
Overall, the movie is a mix of different films.
Final Point:
Die-hard fans of Rajendra Prasad and Siddharth will love the movie for sure. A few might enjoy ogling the heroine, Pranitha. Family audiences, especially women, might like the emotional second half of the film. One will have to wait and watch how the movie will fare in the long run.

Ram Gopal Varma is back with a bang in the Telugu movie circuit with his favorite brand of violent movies. From the day it was announced, the movie has caught the attention and generated a lot of controversy. Made on the feud that existed between Paritala Ravi and Maddelacheruvu Soori, the movie was much awaited this festive season and finally it was released today.
Let’s check it out.
Story
Veerabhadraiah (Rajendra Gupta) is a trusted aide of noted MLA Narasimha Reddy in Anandapuram area. He, however, gets killed by Narasimha Reddy when Narasimha’s relative, Nagamani Reddy (Kota Srinivasa Rao) sows seeds of friction between the two for reasons of caste.
Veerabhadraiah’s elder son Shankar Ravi (Sushant) is enraged and goes into a killing spree. But he too gets killed. Shankar’s younger brother Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberoi) who is away from all this gets to know and vows revenge on his father and brother’s killers. He brutally kills Narasimha Reddy, Nagamani Reddy and others to become a big force in Anandapuram region.

But in this process, Nagamani Reddy’s son Bukka Reddy (Abhimanyu) who is insane is unable to take this and he becomes Pratap’s main enemy. He waits for the right time to eliminate Pratap Ravi.

In the meantime Bukka Reddy irks newly turned politician Shivaji Rao (Shatrughan Sinha). Noticing the rise of Pratap as an opposite and powerful force to Bukka Reddy, Shivaji Rao (Shatrughan) decides to set up a new party and support Pratap to put an end to Bukka Reddy.  How he does this and what happens after that forms the remaining part of the thrilling and spine chilling finale.
Rakta Charitra-1 is focused mainly on the rise of ‘Paritala Ravi’. Even though RGV has incorporated some fictional and commercial elements to the real story to appease the masses, most of the content is inspired and grasped from Paritala Ravindra’s life.
Performances:
Vivek Oberoi performance as Pratap Ravi is outstanding. While underplaying the role, he has used his eyes and body language to do full justice to the role and given a power packed performance. In fact, this can be easily regarded as Vivek’s best performance so far.

Abhimanyu Singh as Bukka Reddy is a complete show stealer as the villain in the movie. His menacing wicked looks and his cold blooded performance will give some spine chilling moments to the audience.

Shatrughan Sinha acting is average in the movie. It would be difficult for the audience to envision anyone else besides NTR himself in the role. However, Shatrughan Sinha has tried his best to behave like NTR did in real life and this can be seen by his prominent gestures and dialogue delivery.

Kota has come up a sterling performance. Radhika, as the wife of Ravi, is naturally appealing, Zarina is good. Tanikella is impressive and made his presence felt. Rajendra Gupta was adequate while Sushant was brief and Ashish Vidyarthi was okay. Subhalekha Sudhakar’s presence does some good to the nativity factor which is seriously lacking in the movie. Subrat Dutta was also good. Rest of the cast did their bit as required by the director and added value to the film.

Analysis:
Rakta Charitra is a fiction based on historical facts. We all know how our filmmakers glorify the ‘factional’ concept and have made similar movies in the past. Ram Gopal Varma has also tried to show this with a blend of fiction and has hit the right balance. Without taking sides, RGV has just focused just on the proceedings with true depiction of human emotions. Because the director has focus on strong characterization, the drama holds the audience’s grip
RGV has taken imagination to new levels by his extreme characterization. For example, he has shown Bukka Reddy as a determined rapist/murderer! Pratap Ravi is shown as a bad guy, but for a true reason (he is chosen to be the hero of the plot).
Despite dealing this story in a creative manner, RGV didn’t dare enough to shoot the film in real locations. However, RGV deserves praises for daringly canning some very controversial scenes on NTR (Shatrugan) and Obul Reddy (Abhimanyu) characters. This film is a must watch for those who want to get the real feel of Rayalaseema faction.
Technicalities:
Like Varma’s other movies, Rakta Charitra too is technically brilliant. The cinematography by Amol Rathod is awesome as Rathod seem to have grasped RGV technical flair. Music composed by Dharam-Sandeep is another asset to this movie. The background score too is very good. Dialogues written by Nageswara Rao are not something to write home about except for few striking punch lines here and there. Editing is crisp but the art is not up to the mark as the Bihar kind of setup doesn’t gel with the backdrop of Anantapuram.

5. Pratap Reddy’s sketch to kill Bukka Reddy is excellent.
6. Ram Moorthy (Tanikella) telling Pratap Ravi: ‘Shave beard as a politician should look clean at face although dirty at heart.’
7. Bukka Reddy’s entry scene.

Challenges:
Some of the challenges that the movie is likely to face include:
The subject is hard hitting and one needs to have some background information before seeing the film.
Criticism over Shivai Rao’s (a replica of NTR) characterization and converting it into publicity factor.
Questions with respect to ‘pedda sir’ (implying YSR) and again converting it into a publicity element.
Disappointments:
A few minus points of the movie are:
1. RGV’s overflowing voice which disturbs the movie’s mood to some point.
2. Pratap Ravi stays in forest as per the dialogue. But he stays in a dusty hill area that hardly looks like a forest.
3. Why include the Dabbunnoda song? The context is unconvincing.
4. As the story, characters and emotions are completely based on Rayalaseema faction, RGV should’ve stuck to make this film solely in Telugu only.
5. Not many people from other states are aware of Ravi-Soori clash so why would people from the Hindi belt watch this film?.
Final Word:
Ram Gopal Varma works best in violence story genre on to the screen. The film is technically brilliant and RGV gives the right definition for faction in this film. His inimitable style of storytelling and moviemaking is the biggest plus point for Rakta Charita.
Although it is a typical RGV film, the characters, however, get to speak more than what we usually see in his movies. There is rhythm in the performances of the cast and they are able to connect with the audience.

On a whole, this is a movie for the violent movie lovers especially RGV’s fans.

Jr. NTR’s Brindavanam is one of the most awaited Telugu movies in a long time. It is clear that no other Telugu movie could give Endhiran - Robo a run for at the box-office. Added to this is the fact that Komaram Puli and Mahesh Kaleja have not lived up much to the expectations of the people. Therefore, Jr. NTR’s Brindavanam review and the verdict are the most talked movie of the town.

Another thing to be noted here is the fact that after a few setbacks in the recent past, Dil Raju teamed up with Vamsi Paidipally who earlier directed ‘Munna’ and had failed to create any magic at the box office. But, Dil Raju had faith in him and gave a second chance to Vamsi to direct ‘Brindavanam’ with none other than young tiger NTR in the lead role.

Young tiger Junior NTR fans, who were interested in seeing him playing a role from his uncle Balakrishna’s super hit movies will be delighted with the news that ‘Brindaavanam’ is in line with Balakrishna’s yesteryears movie ‘ Naari Naari Naduma Murari’. The movie featured actress Shobana and actress Nirosha (actress Radhika sister) in the lead, with Urvashi Sharadha playing the role of a mother-in-law.

Story:

The story of the movie goes like this:

Rivals Srihari and Prakash Raj are step-brothers and Kota Srinivasa Rao is their father. Indu (Samantha) is Prakash Raj’s nephew while Bhoomi (Kajal Agarwal) is Srihari’s niece. Krish( NTR) is the son of Surendra (Mukesh Rishi) who is a rich industrialist from Hyderabad. He loves Indu (Samanta) and introduces her to his family and gets green signal for the marriage.

Indu’s best friend is Bhumi ( Kajal) who wants to pursue higher studies in USA, but her father Bhanu Prasad (Prakash Raj) fixes her marriage with Ajay, who is a spoiled brat in the village and also her brother-in-law. Bhumi who is disinterested in marriage lies to her father that she already had a boy friend in Hyderabad. Bhanu Prasad asks Bhumi to get her boyfriend to their village so that they can induce hatred in Bhumi against her boyfriend.

Bhoomi then approaches Indu and requests Krish to act like her boyfriend. Indu convinces NTR to act like Bhoomi’s boyfriend and save her from the marriage. As part of the plan Krish reaches Laksmi Puram along with Bhumi. When NTR goes to the village to set things right for Bhoomi, he comes to know about the rivalry between the two villages, Lakshmi Puram and Venkata Puram. NTR also discovers that Indu and Bhoomi come from same family.

The movie encapsulates how Krish unites Srihari and Prakash Raj and whom he finally gets married to in the end.

Analysis:

‘Brindavanam’ is a complete entertainment package for any movie lover. It has got all the elements of action, drama, sentiment, comedy, musical score and romance in equal measure. Director Vamsi Paidipally has attempted to showcase NTR as a class hero with mass instincts and hook the familiy audiences without hampering his overall image. And we have to say he has just managed to pull things off - only just. Perhaps this is not the best of scripts that NTR has zeroed in, but Brindavanam crosses the rope though NTR’s depiction and performance.

The only problem with the movie is its tempo. You feel as if you are watching two movies - one before interval and the other post-interval. The first half of the movie is all about reuniting the step-brothers while the second half is a triangle love story. The first half of the movie is fast-paced with super action sequences and the drama keeps you engaged at all times with high voltage performances of Prakash Raj, Srihari and NTR. The second half of the movie is slacked with loads of sentiment and family drama and you get a feel as if you are watching an altogether new movie. And the climax is rather peculiar - perhaps something that NTR, DIL Raju and Vamsi Paidipally collectively agreed on.

All in all, although there is nothing new in the storyline, the entertainment elements will draw in the crowds to the theater.

Performances:

Young Tiger NTR is his usual best self and steals the show with his dynamic performance. While Adhurs gave NTR a tinge of comedy disposition, Brindavanam fosters and strengths his roots amongst families as well.  NTR has infused a lot of energy into the character and delivered it perfectly. He has excelled in all the acting departments to the joy of the audience. The action sequences enacted by him are brilliant. But the dance movements are not what you expect from such a popular actor who is known for his dance steps. NTR looks handsome and costumes he dons stand out.

Actress Kajal has a meaty role which had scope for performance and she does an average job of it. She looked glamorous in the song sequences and fits her role.

Samantha is hot, glamorous and oozes a lot of sex appeal that you did not get to see in the Jessie character which she played in her debut film. She carries the character with ease and dominates in her scenes with Kajal. She seems to have a lot of potential.

Prakash Raj is his usual best self as the adamant father. We cannot envision anyone else in this role. Srihari’s role is small compared to Prakash Raj’s, but he justifies it well. Kota Srinivasa Rao as grand father who is instrumental for the movie acted well.

Venu Madahv and Brahmanandam manage to do justice to their roles and draw laughs from the audience. Mukesh Rishi has a very limited role and is wasted. Tanikella Bharani, Ajay, Brahmaji, Ahuti Prasad, Raghu Babu all did their part well.

Technicalities:

Music composed by SS Thaman is awesome but he needs to improve in re-recording. The background score is average. However, the choreography is a big let down. Prem Rakshit and Raju Sundaram have failed to compose steps to match the dancing caliber of NTR.

Chota K Naidu’s camera work is excellent especially in the action episodes. The second half needs a little more editing. The CG and graphic works were reasonably good, but surely Marthand K Venkatesh, the editor could have done a better job particularly in the second half of the movie.

The dialogues in the movie are superb. Fights by Ram Laxman are the highlight for the movie. Andad Sai art work is outstanding and the house sets in Brindavanam are beautiful.

Undettered by his first failure, Vamshi Paidipally has proved everyone that he has the skills to deliver a hit.  Vamshi has chosen a family entertainment script and added mass masala in the right composition. He would have scored more marks had he concentrated a little more on the screenplay.

Dialogues by Koratala Ravi veru very Good

Art work by Anand Sai is Cool

Koratala Ravi deserves a good mention for writing sensible dialogues through out the movie.

Music by Thaman is good on screen when combined with the visuals. 

He is very good as a lover boy and a lovable son. 

Cinematography by Chota K Naidu is excellent. 

Production values by Dil Raju are good very good.

Fights by Ram-Laxman really Good

This Movie is up to NTR to get a range for the movie.

Mass-Family Entertainer.

Final Word:

All said, Brindavanam is a conventional family script, customized with some peppy and romantic tracks making it an average film. While Brindavanam might not necessarily be on the same lines, the idea of exchanging boyfriends is purely dramatized and cinematic – perhaps but practically impossible. 

The Rs. 32 Crore budgeted film is a mix of Simhadri and Bommarillu. Even though the title gives an impression of a soft film in the offering, Brindavanam has all the commercial elements and these have been included in the film because the script requires them.

Mahesh Khaleja Movie Review

There has been much hype and controversies associated with superstar Prince Mahesh Babu’s Mahesh Khaleja. To add to it was the fact that Mahesh was last seen in Athidhi few years back.

So no wonder then the movie was eagerly anticipated for!

The story goes like this:

GK (Prakash Raj) and Tanikella Bharani are business partners doing illegal business, running medical colleges etc. In order to cement their friendship and foster their illegal business activities, GK plans to get his son (Amit) married to Subhashini (Anushka) who is Bharani’s daughter.

In the meantime, GK has plans to establish a plastic factory in Paali village, a border village in AP. So he sends a researcher who discovers a Lord Krishna idol and finds that is made of Iridium, a rare metal used in building rockets and that costs many time more than gold.

Later, he learns that entire village has huge quantities of Iridium treasure underground. Both GK and Bharani conspire to evacuate the 534 people living in the village (by raising a superstition) and thereby capture the complete Iridium treasure.

Cut across to Seetharama Raju (Mahesh Babu) who is a cab driver who lands in a village beset with misfortune and looks upon him as a divine power. The plot unveils as how this nowhere related and confused Seetharama Raju saves the lives of people of Paali.

In between you have GK killing the researcher for not letting the secret out. GK also plans to kill Seetharama Raju in a planned manner. But how Mahesh escapes the clutches of the forces of evil and falls in love with Anushka forms the rest of the story.

Director Trivikram Srinivas known to make light movies has tried out something different in the form of an action entertainer Khaleja. While he is able to retain the viewer’s attention in the first half of the movie (like he earlier did in Nuvve Nuvve and Athadu), the interest soon fizzles out in the second half which seem to have lost its initial tempo.

Mahesh Babu is very handsome and elegant in the movie. True to his image of Prince Charming, Mahesh Babu mesmerizes with this on-screen presence. Mahesh Babu’s character in the movie is shown in a very different light. Till now, we haven’t seen him do such a role in his entire career. His action episodes are great and his body language is very energetic. Mahesh has credibly carried the whole movie on his shoulder. In short, it is Mahesh’s movie all the way.

Anushka, as a demure damsel, is attractive. Her essential impishness fits the role to the T (tee). However, she is the major flaw of the film as the heroine. She is tall, old for the hero and cannot act. She has absolutely blank expressions especially during the emotional scenes and there is hardly any chemistry between the lead pair. But some scenes between the two really make you laugh.

Rao Ramesh does well as a foreteller – almost the same character like he did in Magadheera. Shafi also did well as Rao Ramesh’s disciple. Prakash Raj and Thannikela Bharani are adequate.

Yash Bhatt, the movie’s cinematographer, has done an excellent job. The music composed by Mani Sharma is not too great except for two songs - particularly the Om Namo Siva Rudraya song is absolutely brilliant. Ahmed Khan’s choreography of the songs are the highlight of the film The action sequences of Peter Heins too are fantastic.

Although the storyline is okay, one can’t say the same thing about the screenplay and the pace of the movie. Editor Sreekar Prasad perhaps could have done a better job in the second half where the actual plot would be unveiled.

Too much violence, lackluster romance, the mediocre music and dialogues fail to excite you. The only saving grace is the winsome hero who despite three long years looks fresh but sadly, is not exploited well.

A lot of people feel that the movie is similar to ‘Arjun’. Having said all these, Mahesh Kaleja is certainly not a film that should be made with a whopping budget of 40 crores and shot in 3 years.

All things considered, Mahesh Kaleja turns out to be an average movie. With gigantic expectations and a huge surge in the fan base, Mahesh Khaleja comes with enormous expectations. Let us hope Khaleja becomes a hit for his sake!

The movie Robo seems to smell of a bipolar disorder. While some parts of the movie are awesome, other parts have been unnecessarily stretched. But overall, Shankar has done a superb job in terms of the storyline and the special effects. And when you have a movie with Rajinikanth in it, you need to buy a ticket to see it.

The only thing you have to keep in mind is that Rajinikanth movies do not have any rules laid out. So in the climax – which is so good that you won’t see another such one in a long time - Rajini is seen as a King Kong, as the Incredible Hulk, the Iron Man, the Transformer and even as an Anaconda gorging on his enemy. Robo can swallow helicopters and even fire at people with his fingers, without using a pistol.

The action and chase sequences are stunning [Yuen Woo Ping, action choreographer in the Matrix and Kill Bill sequels, was the stunt coordinator]. Visual effects are spectacular [Stan Winston Studio, the studio behind Jurassic Park, Predator, Terminator, Iron Man, Avatar, provided the animatronics technology]. The precise cinematography captures the grand production values.

The movie is not so much a sci-fi as much as it is an excuse to showcase Rajini as a superstar doing unbelievable antics and making it all look plausible. Robo shows Rajinikanth as the hero, the villain and the comedian, all rolled into one.

The story goes like this.

Dr Vasi (Rajni) creates an andro-humanoid robot, Chitti, (again Rajni) after 10 years of hard work, neglecting his parents and girlfriend Sharmili (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) in the process. All goes well till his attempts to put emotions into the robot backfires and the robot takes a liking for Sharmili, creating a unique love triangle. Chitti’s feelings are, however, not reciprocated by Sharmili who thinks him more as a toy than a boy – that is when Chitti turns bad. At this point the good doctor decides to destroy it.

In between, we have the evil scientist (Danny Denzangpo) who being aware of the extraordinary artificial intelligence of the robot, gets hold of it, not only to resurrect it but to also turn him into a killing machine.

Robo is just not a movie about VFX effects. The movie has a soul and emotions. It shows the eternal clash between the forces of good and evil.

Robo shows that Chitti, despite been a robot, wants to live and be loved but is flawed and blinded by destruction. But of course, this message is subtly warped in the jaw-dropping special effects.

There are several gorgeously shot songs in exotic locales like Austria, Brazil, USA, including one in Machu Picchu, Peru that has several llamas in the frame with a swaying Aishwarya.  Sadly, A.R. Rahman’s music is not exactly his best work.

As for the character of Sharmili, she does not have much to do except play a Barbie doll who is required to look gorgeous or afraid. There is little screen time that the leading pair share together and there seem to be not too much chemistry involved between the two.

Everyone is overshadowed by Rajini’s character - whether it is the parents, (we see them in two scenes), friends (Karunas and Santanam are completely overshadowed by Rajni even in the comedy scenes), heroine (every director in the past decade has tried in vain to pair Rajni and Ash, but she still does not have much to do) and villain (a powerful actor like Danny hardly registers his presence) all are marginalized.

On the flip side, the movie has been endlessly stretched. The movie could have been shorter by a good 10-15 minutes. However, Robo is a three hour experience that gives you no time to pause and think.

Rajinikanth carries the movie on his shoulders. No other actor could have essayed this sort of role with so much élan. With his snazzy dressing, make-up and special effects, he makes Chitti look endearing.

1. Rajni Kanth is tremendously good at age 60. His moves, his gait and expressions didn’t wane even a bit.
2.  Aishwarya Rai is the true asset for the movie. Her glamour made a lot of difference. As a true  goddess of beauty she   enchanted everyone. 
3.  Danny is apt in serious role. His performance is in contemporary international standards. 
4.  Director Shankar deserves great mention for making this biggest feat possible on Indian screen with a message.
5. Shankar has used technology and special effects to the core.
6. Aish looking great, acted well, she looks old in some scenes. 
7.  Rajini is just GREAT GREAT GREAT .... 
8.  He takes more |Avatars, say more than 1000 and Dasavatharam is a mustard here. 
9.  I think none other than Rajini can mantle this role and none would fit into this role.
10.  Excellent camera and fighting scenes, superb train stunt by chitti Music is good and background music is pressed to take the scenes to the new heights.
11.  Dont miss to take your children, 4-14, they will enjoy more than you.
12.  chitti (rajini villain)’s actions are superb.
13.  A repeat watch may be recommended.
