Maryada Ramanna Movie Review

Ace Director SS Rajamouli who has given straight back to back hits comes up with a bold film with comedian Sunil as hero. The genre of the film is comedy and it is a subject that Rajamouli has not dealt with much in his previous films. The storyline is pretty simple and straight. Ramu (Sunil) is a good natured guy who ekes out a living by supplying groceries to stores from the wholesaler. He loses his job as his rickety cycle does not allow him to deliver the goods on time. At this time Ramu gets a letter from the Mandal office saying that he has inherited about 5 acres of land in Rayalaseema that has been in litigation in court for about 30 years. Ramu sets out to take possession of the land as he wants to sell it and buy a auto trolley so that he can get back his job. Ramu meets Aparna (Saloni) in the train and they become friends. Ramu realizes that Aparna is the daughter of Ramineedu (Nagineedu). Ramineedu is seeking revenge on the son of the killer of his younger brother. Ramu enters the household of Ramineedu as he is the strongman of the village and he can help in selling off the land. Ramu is now in serious trouble as Ramineedu learns that Ramu is none other than the son of the person who killed his brother. However one thing stops Ramineedu and his sons form killing Ramu then and there. The reason is that Ramu is a guest and they cannot kill a guest as long as he stays within the four walls of the house. Ramu learns about this and tries his best to stay put in the house. Aparna on the other thinks that Ramu is staying put in the house as he is in love with her. It is now a cat and mouse game between Ramu and Ramanaidu and his to sons who are ready to kill Ramu the moment he steps out of the house. What happens next is the suspense element in the film. Sunil does a neat job and his subtle comedy particularly in the first half is quite hilarious. Sunil also excels in the dance numbers. Saloni gives him good company. Nagineedu does a good job with his subtle but firm character. For a change Brahmaji plays a positive and lovable character. Supreeth is good while Rao Ramesh appears in what can be termed a guest role. Maryada Ramanna is a clean and neat entertainer with no vulgar dialogues or scenes. The fights are also composed with very little violence and there is not any blood and gore in the film. The first half is lighthearted and racy but the film slows down in the second half. The music is just average. While Rajamouli has come up with a good product the predictable and tame ending that Rajamouli chooses and which one has seen in several films before is a disappointment. Verdict: On the whole Maryada Ramanna is a neat and funny film that one can enjoy with the entire family. Watch it and you will not be disappointed. Pluse Points Sunil’s performance, sunil’s steps are excellent good camera work, superb music,The song ’Ammayi Kitiki Pakkana’ makes a pleasant watch. Sunil with his innocent looks and sincere performance holds the movie. Suneel expressions and the tension that he evokes is perfect. Sunil can now be a bankable lead actor. Saloni is cute with her expressive eyes. She looks glamorous and a good pair to Sunil. Ravi Teja has lent voice to a bicycle in his typical manner. Artwork by Ravinder is good. Minus Points Nagineedu in the role of a faction feud has right looks but his performance is not that effective Vebtoday - Rating : 3.50/5
