TeluguOne Rating | 3/5 | Release Date | 05-09-2009 | Story | Satya (Naga Chaitanya), who once was a studious school boy, gets changed into a careless youth after his entry into college studies. Though his college principal Surendra Kumar (Prakash Raj) tries his best to convince him, he refuses to mend his ways. The principal's son gets killed in a bike race. Though Satya was to blame for the death, the principal remains silent as a mark of forgiveness. This becomes unbearable for Satya. He leaves the place and goes to Hyderabad. He joins in MGM college. The students' becoming tools in the hands of a local leader J.Durgarao (J.D.Chakravarthy) makes him to work against the exploitation and create awareness in the students. The rest of the story shows how he achieves his goal. Analysis | If one observes keenly, the film is a mix up of two flicks – 'Shiva', starring his father Nagarjuna in the title role and directed by RGV and 'Student No:1' - directed by the successful director Rajamouli and Junior NTR playing the title role. The failure to maintain the balance in churning out a new story could easily be felt by the audience. In 'Shiva' Nagarjuna leaves the college to revolt against rowdism, here Nagachaitanya joins in the college to fight against it. As Junior NTR continues his studies while serving his prison tenure, here Nagachaitanya is forgiven for his fault in the death of the principal's son. Though this may seem to balance the story, there are many dropouts in the flick. The scene depicting the death of the boy fails to create an impression. Many scenes in the film lack coherence. It may be due to the pressure on the director as he is directing the debut film of the son of an established hero of Tollywood. Still Vasu Verma impresses in delivering a message for the youth on their adolescent behavior and aiming for a bright future. This reflects his sense of social responsibility. DMK Perspective | Action: When compared with the debut film 'Vikram' of his father Nagarjuna, Nagachaitanya proves to be a better actor with improved performance in dialogue delivery and body language. He gives a promising performance and the same is reflected in the scenes of – his speech at the college podium, the emotions he expresses in the hospital scene etc. Even his josh in fight scenes and the somersault he performs are impressive. Care should have been taken while selecting the story for his launch film. He became the scape goat of the film. Apart from J.D.Chakravarthy, other characters fail to support him. Debutant heroine Kartika doen't impress. Even Prakash Raj's appearance doesn't help to elevate the mood. The comedy of Brahmanandam, Sunil, Hema fails to tickle. Others did justice to their roles. Music: All the songs are melodiously tuned. “Jigijikka song, Anna Vachhindo, College bulloda” songs are sure to impress the mass audience. Re-recording too is impressive. Cinematography: Though not impressive, one should not consider it as bad. Much better in songs and action scenes. Dialogues: Director Vasu gave good dialogues and reflect the spice of Trivikram Srinivas. Editing: Neat. Art: Okay Action: There is a chasing scene, impressive somersault, and other fights include the action pack. One better watch the film to check the debut film of Nagachaitanya. Not too impressive to entertain a film bug! |
